Newly obtained videos by NBC News shed light on actor Alec Baldwin’s interactions with prop guns during the filming of the movie “Rust,” just days before a tragic on-set shooting took place.

The exclusive videos reveal raw footage from the western film, capturing Baldwin as he fires a prop gun while emerging from a shack and traversing a mountainous area surrounded by dense brush.

In one of these clips, Baldwin engages with the film crew, delving into his character’s movements, how the scene will be framed, and the manner in which he intends to portray it.

Another scene portrays Baldwin lying on his back with a rifle nearby, conversing with the film crew. “Now wait a second, if I am going to shoot right, do you want to go to the other side of the camera? I don’t want to shoot towards you,” the actor cautiously remarks.

This never-before-seen footage marks the first glimpse of Baldwin working with a prop gun on the New Mexico set, captured in the days preceding the tragic incident in October 2021. During a rehearsal, a gun held by Baldwin discharged a live round, resulting in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. While involuntary manslaughter charges against Baldwin were dismissed in April, a New Mexico grand jury is anticipated to decide whether charges should be refiled, as reported by CNN.

These newly surfaced videos were among dozens requested by special prosecutors from Rust Movie Productions LLC during the spring, according to NBC. They hold the potential to serve as crucial evidence when presented to the grand jury.

Part of the Santa Fe County police investigation is concentrated on understanding how a live round of ammunition managed to find its way onto the movie set. Both Baldwin’s attorneys and special prosecutors have refrained from making statements to NBC. CNN, too, reached out to attorneys for Baldwin and prosecutors but has not yet received a response.

In a previous interview with CNN, Baldwin denied pulling the trigger on the weapon. His attorneys, Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro, conveyed their intention to address the case in court, emphasizing, “It is unfortunate that a terrible tragedy has been turned into this misguided prosecution. We will answer any charges in court.”
